If liberals & conservatives can just keeping fighting over race, will it make war in Afghanistan go away?
I ask this question as a democratic socialist, and as someone who usually tries to slam dunk white racists and GOP spin artists who keep harping on Obama's race & ancestry & [alleged] religion. I can't pretend to be nonpartisan about this.
But to me, it looks as if people in YA Politics spend amazing amounts of energy fighting over these "identity" issues, but almost no energy debating continued US deployments of troops and weapons and money in Afghanistan.
Why the discrepancy?
According to the opinion polls, some 60% of US voters now believe that continued involvement in Afghanistan isn't worth the dollars or the lives being lost there.
Why are so many of us in YA Politics arguing over race & religion, then, instead of arguing over Afghanistan?
