Why do Americans love white running shoes?
I am originally from Europe yet I've been living in Canada for the past 9 years. One thing I never understood, is why Americans (US citizens) LOVE to wear white running shoes?
There are black, brown, grey leather shoes made for comfort, or runners in other colours, or sandals for summer - yes - even for men, and no you don't have to wear socks with it.
I would like to understand 3 things:
1. How the "white shoe" became such a favourite American accessory
2. Whether they only wear it this much while abroad
3. Last but not least: How do they always keep them so perfectly white and shiny?? No scratches, not even the slightest dirt even after walking 8 hours on historic grounds, safaris - you name it! Rain or shine!
Would someone please reveal the mystery of the immaculate all American white shoes?...
Wow, I've never thought about that until now. We do have a lot of white running shoes! lol o_O I'm a runner...
I think Americans associate white running shoes with being brand new and clean. Maybe it's a fashion trend here, I don't know.
I always liked different colored shoes though.
